How To Cook A Perfect Steak

Cooking a great steak at home doesn’t require a grill or fancy tools. With the right heat, simple seasoning, and proper timing, you can get a restaurant-quality steak right on your stovetop. Ingredients

  • 8 oz ribeye steak

  • Olive oil

  • Butter

  • Worcestershire sauce

  • Sea salt

  • Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Remove the steak from the refrigerator 20–30 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature.

  2. Season all sides with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.

  3. Heat a pan over medium-high heat until lightly smoking.

  4. Add olive oil, then place the steak in the pan. Do not move it for 1 minute.

  5. Rotate the steak 90 degrees and cook another minute.

  6. Render the fat by holding the steak on its side for 30 seconds.

  7. Flip, add butter, and baste while cooking to desired doneness.

  8. Rest the steak for 5 minutes before slicing.
